Our intro snippet of life in Pawnee in this episode? Bags of dog poop flying through the air with Leslie in the middle of it. Have I mentioned what a classy broad she is? At least Tom had the sense to hide out in the car.

  1. Once cleaned up and back at the office, the employees are drooling over a basket of wine and cheese that’s been given to them by a local company. They’re just about to break into it when Leslie bursts in and spoils the fun. Government employees are not allowed to accept gifts over $45 for corruption reasons. The government is a fishbowl, Leslie explains; they are all under a microscope, which is why she goes two towns over when she rents movies with nudity in them.

Leslie confiscates the basket for the greater good, and once everyone is back to work, Leslie gathers everyone around for the big unveiling of the social networking site that April has set up for the pit. Mark has already friended it, and upon closer inspection of his profile, he seems to be very popular among the silicone implant crowd.

And speaking of Mark, he’s just right out in the courtyard, drinking beers with the “boy’s club” (as Leslie calls it); Leslie decides it’s time for her and Ann to bust in on their turf. It’s about time women start taking their places! Leslie leaves 19 year old April in charge (because she’s a woman), and her and Ann head out to drink some beer on government property! Woohoo! Meanwhile, April is getting bored inside.

The party starts to break up when they run out of beer, and Leslie is desperate to keep the party going. What’s a girl trying to make it in a man’s world do? Oh right, there’s a gift basket with all that wine. Hmm…

Of course, the following morning, Leslie doesn’t feel so great about her decision to open the unlawful gift, and starts putting together a public apology, admitting to violating the government employee ethics code of Indiana, and personally saying she’s sorry to each and every female public official in office, in alphabetical order. Leslie is quick to flagellate herself, and while Tom and her other co-workers are not so kind, Ron is quick to point out that she’s being harder on herself than anyone ever would be.

He refuses to take any action against her, so Leslie decides she has to take it upon herself to email an apology to everyone in Pawnee’s government, along with a link to the pit’s website, so that they can see the good things she does. It’s not exactly a brilliant plan, but it turns out to be even less promising when Leslie discovers that April has posted a video on the pit’s website of herself getting drunk on Leslie’s stolen wine.

And that puts a rather quick end to Ron’s stance of non-action when Leslie is called to a disciplinary hearing that he is required to attend with her. Well, she did want to be punished, didn’t she?

This was another funny episode, and I’m enjoying the developing relationships between the characters. I particularly like the way Ron stood up for Leslie in the hearing. What did you guys think? Give me your two cents!
